Financial Assistance
 

Ryan Rowe Fund

The Ryan Rowe Fund is to provide financial support for minor hockey players who otherwise may not have the financial resources to afford basic registration fees and would not be able to participate in hockey for the season.  Only one application per player per season may be submitted.

ELIGIBILITY

Player is between 5 and 18 years of age.

CRITERIA

  • Players must reside within the boundaries of Dawson Creek Minor Hockey Association

  • Must demonstrate a clear financial need

  • All other avenues of financial assistance must be exhausted

  • Camps, travel to playoffs, championships, etc. are not eligible expenses

  • No application will be considered unless all necessary documentation is received in full

  • Any applicant will play one of four levels of hockey: House, “B”, Select/Minor Development League and Representative.
  • Additional circumstances may be taken into consideration

  • Grant allocations may be taken into consideration when any reimbursements occur at the end of the season.

Daryl Becotte Memorial Fund  

 
 

Daryl Becotte, well-known resident of the Dawson Creek area, died suddenly May 2005. Daryl completed all of his schooling in Dawson Creek, graduating from South Peace Secondary in 1988. Daryl formed his own company and was the owner/operator of Darbec Production Services Ltd., a contracting company based in Spirit River, working with the oil and gas industry.

Daryl had a passion for all sports and was playing senior hockey with the Spirit River Rangers at the time of his death. Daryl also loved hunting, fishing, baseball, softball and four wheeling.

A Memorial Fund was created in Daryl's name to assist with registration fees for the Dawson Creek Minor Hockey Summer Hockey School or tournament, Rep and other fees related to the participation in hockey.

KidSport™ So ALL Kids Can Play!


With the help of dedicated supporters like SportsFunder, the NHL Players Association, the BC Lions Football Club, and many others, KidSport™ works to fulfill its mission of eliminating the financial barriers to sport participation, So All Kids Can Play!. Kids have the opportunity to reach their highest potential when they have access to physical activity, which can positively impact physical health, development of social skills, self-esteem, and friendships.

Established by Sport BC in 1993, KidSport™ is a community-based sport charity that provides grants for children aged 6 – 18 to participate in a sport season of their choice. There are 26 community chapters in BC and 175 across Canada.

 

 

Apply for Funds

Application Guidelines

  • Children ages six to 18 years are eligible for a grant.
  • Grants of up to $200 (depending on the community) are to be used for the payment of sport participation / registration fees.
  • Camps, equipment, travel to playoffs, championships, etc. are not eligible expenses.
  • Only one application per calendar year, for one eligible sport may be submitted.
  • Applications must be received prior to or during the requested season of sport.
  • Sport activities must demonstrate a sustained sport experience (a season of sport led by a qualified coach) and the sport activity must be affiliated with the member sport organizations of Sport BC.
  • Preference is given to athletes who are being introduced to organized sport.
